The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) honored Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines, Kazuya Endo on Monday, by conferring the Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon in recognition of his contributions to advancing the PCG’s maritime capabilities and strengthening cooperation between the Philippines and Japan.

The ceremony was held at the National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila as Ambassador Endo concluded his tenure as Japan’s envoy to the Philippines.

Ambassador Endo, who served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Philippines from April 2024 to August 2026, supported key initiatives for the PCG’s modernization and professional development, including vessel acquisition, master’s degree programs, skills-based training, technical cooperation, and professional exchanges.

PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan acknowledged Ambassador Endo’s sustained engagement with the Coast Guard and his role in facilitating initiatives that improved the capabilities of PCG personnel in conducting maritime safety and security operations.

The PCG also recognized Ambassador Endo’s contribution to deepening the close and enduring cooperation between the PCG and Japan Coast Guard, building on the longstanding friendship between the Philippines and Japan.
