Vice President Sara Duterte claimed that the impeachment complaint filed against her "is not supported by evidence" noting that "the rule of law depends on facts, not fiction".

In a statement issued on Tuesday or after the completion of the fourth day of the impeachment trial at the Senate, Duterte stressed that the "impeachment proceeding should be grounded in credible evidence, not speculation, manufactured narratives, or unsupported allegations".

"Repeatedly claiming that there were threats when none existed, inventing an assassin where there was none, and fabricating evidence to support those claims does not transform fiction into fact," he said

"Instead, such actions undermine the integrity of public institutions, erode public trust, waste public resources, and corrupt the search for truth," he added.

During the fourth day of the impeachment trial, the House prosecutor presented NBI-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Regional Director Jeremy Lotoc.

Lotoc testified at the Article IV of the articles of impeachment which accuses Duterte of committing grave threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

He was the chief of the Cybercrime Division of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) who led the probe into Duterte’s alleged kill threats in 2024. Robina Asido/PHS
