PCG to place all operating units under heightened alert before All Saints Day
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will place all operating units under heightened alert days before November in preparation for the anticipated influx of passengers to different ports during Undas or the "All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day".
Commodore Noemie Cayabyab, PCG spokesperson, said the alert status will be raised from October 29 to November 3.
Cayabyab said almost 17,000 PCG personnel will be deployed to ensure safety of travelers in different ports.
The PCG will also deploy its floating asset and Deployable Response Group composed of rescue personnel, medic, and nurses who will respond for possible emergencies.
The K9 units of the PCG will also be deployed to primary ports for security and inspections to ensure that there is no prohibited material like firecrackers on the baggage of passengers.
Passenger assistance desks will also be set up in all ports across the country to assist travelers, in partnership with the Philippine Ports Authority, the Philippine National Police, and other law enforcement units. Robina Asido/PHS
