At least 31 dead from three cyclones and enhanced southwest monsoon, says OCD

The death toll due to the combined effects of tropical cyclones ''Luis'', ''Maymay'', ''Neneng'' and the enhanced southwest monsoon reached 31 while three remain missing, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Wednesday.

Based on the latest report, the OCD recorded the most number of the fatalities in Benguet with 15.

Other fatalities were recorded in La Union (1), Rizal (4), Batangas (4), Quezon City (1), Oriental Mindoro (1), Occidental Mindoro (2), Negros Occidental (1) and Caloocan (2).

The missing individuals were reported in Quezon City, Manila and Batangas.

Damage to infrastructure and agriculture also climbed to P7.4 billion, of which P5.5 billion was due to damage to infrastructure and agricultural losses of P1.9 billion.

A total of 104 areas were currently placed under state of calamity because of the weather disturbances; these include the entire province of Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Cavite. Robina Asido/PHS
