Gov’t launches Phase 2 of EDSA rehabilitation project
The government has launched the second phase of the EDSA Rehabilitation Project as part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare and provide motorists and commuters with safer and more convenient travel.
During a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos directed Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon to ensure that roads are built to be more durable, sidewalks are widened, and only high-quality materials are used in the rehabilitation works.
According to Castro, the repair works began on the northbound Ortigas bus lane in Mandaluyong City on July 4.
“Alinsunod sa direktibang ito ng Pangulo, double-time ang kilos ng DPWH sa pamumuno ni Secretary Vince Dizon. Sinimulan ang repair works sa northbound ng Ortigas Bus Lane sa Mandaluyong nitong Sabado, July 4,” Castro said.
Castro said the President wants the rehabilitation of the 23.8 kilometer EDSA, considered Metro Manila’s main transport artery, to be prioritized to ensure the continuous flow of traffic and minimize disruptions to the daily commutes of thousands of Filipinos. Presidential News Desk
