''Henry'' becomes tropical depression
Parts of three provinces have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 after the low-pressure area west-southwest of Bataan developed into Tropical Depression 'Henry' early Wednesday.
The areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 includes the southwestern portion of Zambales (San Antonio, Castillejos, Subic, Olongapo City), the western portion of Bataan (Morong, Bagac, Mariveles), and Lubang Islands in Occidental Mindoro.
''Henry'', which has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph was last spotted at 115 km west southwest of Abucay, Bataan while moving northwestward at the speed of 25 kph.
'' 'Henry' is forecast to move generally west northwestward while moving away from the Philippine landmass," the state weather bureau said.
"It may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow morning (July 2)," it added.
Henry is projected to gradually intensify while traversing the West Philippine Sea and may reach tropical storm category by Thursday morning. Robina Asido/PHS
