Police files criminal complaint one of suspects in Leyte school shooting
Police filed a criminal complaint against one of the two students involved in a shooting incident in a Leyte public school where three died last Monday.
In a television interview on Wednesday, Eastern Visayas police regional spokesperson Lt. Col. Analiza Armeza said the suspect is now under the jurisdiction of the prosecution service.
"We already have filed the criminal complaint against the CICL (child in conflict with the law) who is above 15 years old last night with the Prosecutor's Office," said Armeza.
"As to the motive and others, because it is already in the jurisdiction of the Prosecution Service, they will be the one to assess and evaluate the complaint," she added.
Armeza noted that investigators are also looking at bullying as one of the possible motives behind the shooting incident.
"Actually, even if the complaint has already been filed with the Prosecutor's Office, for a comprehensive approach and the formulation of intervention, since the Philippine National Police will also be part of this, other motives are taken into consideration," she stressed.
"We are not singling out only one specific motive, angle of one specific motive," she added.
Armeza also mentioned that the administrative investigation against the policewomen who owns one of the firearms used by her niece during the shooting incident has already been placed under restrictive custody while her designation was also already terminated.
"She safekeep the firearm. She is also confused as to why her nephew, the 14-year-old student, was able to get the firearm (9mm Glock pistol) because she hid it," she said.
On the other hand, a 15-year-old student used a caliber .38 Armscor revolver during the shooting incident that occurred inside the premises of San Jose National High School in Barangay San Jose, Tacloban City.
Police investigators were quoted as saying the two planned the attack as early as May 1, and had discussed the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act while planning the shooting. Robina Asido/PHS
