Raffy Tulfo ties Duterte, Leni narrows gap in two separate Pulse Asia surveys
Two persons who said they are not interested in running for the 2026 presidential elections are running close to Vice President Sara Duterte, a survey said Tuesday.
Pulse Asia said Senator Raffy Tulfo tied Duterte with 46 percent in its survey done February 27 to March 2.
It added that Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo trailed Duterte, 51-43.
“It seems there is no effect from the vice president’s announcement she is running for the 2028 elections”, Pulse Asia president Ronald Holmes told ANC’s Dateline Philippines.
Duterte is facing an impeachment complaint in the House of Representatives for the second year. The Lower House will vote on May 11 whether to impeach her and send articles of impeachment to the Senate.
The questions on the two one-on-one surveys were commissioned by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, said Holmes.
Tulfo had said he is not interested in running for the presidency.
Robredo, a former vice president, also told a radio station in Naga that she would prefer to remain mayor. She was elected to the post in 2025.
Tulfo, who has a popular radio program for years, tied Duterte at 46 percent in Metro Manila. He led Duterte in the rest of Luzon, 72-19.
Duterte led Tulfo in Visayas and Mindanao, her bailiwick. She had 95 percent in Mindanao versus Tulfo’s nine.
Holmes said Pulse Asia starts its regular quarterly survey for the 2028 elections between May and June. PHS
