The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) released Monday the guidelines for implementing the SAGIP Trabaho Program, which will provide additional wage support to workers employed by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), a Palace official said.

During a Palace Press briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos wants to ensure that workers will not lose their jobs following the implementation of the P60 wage increase in the National Capital Region (NCR).

“Ang paglalabas ng workers’ performance plan at business continuity plan upang masigurong walang mga empleado ang matatanggal sa trabaho at walang maliit na negosyo ang magsasara,” Castro added.

Castro said that under the program, the Marcos administration will shoulder an additional P60 in wages for qualified workers of participating SME’s.

The program will run for three months, covering October, November, and December.

DOLE is expected to issue the guidelines for businesses seeking to avail of the program, including the requirements and procedures for participation.

The program aims to provide temporary wage support while helping small and medium businesses retain workers and sustain operations.

Approximately 1.1 million minimum wage earners in Metro Manila will be receiving the P60 daily wage increase, Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino said as he announced that the wage order took effect Saturday.

Under the wage order, the minimum wage for non-agricultural workers in the NCR increased from P695 to P755 per day, while the minimum wage for workers in agriculture, small retail and service establishments employing 15 workers or less, and small manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers increases from P658 to P718 per day.
