Peso falls anew against US dollar
The peso finished at a new record low against the US dollar, ending Monday's trading session at P62.86.
It surpassed Friday's P62.68, the previous all time low. The peso has been losing ground against the US dollar starting August 28.
Volume at the Bankers Association of Philippines was $969.82 million from Friday's $1.138 billion.
Economists have been saying that the peso's weakness was spurred largely by the Middle East tension, which has led to higher oil prices. PHS
