La Salle Green Hills High School in Mandaluyong City temporarily suspended face-to-face classes of its preschool to Grade 12 students citing a "security threat posted on an online messaging platform" on Wednesday night.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, La Salle Green Hills did not give specific details about the threats but it noted that "the security threat posted on an online messaging platform."

This followed a recent shooting incident at the Ateneo de Zamboanga High School where a shooter shot and killed a fellow student before he ended his life. A few months before that, at least three students died in a school in Tacloban.

As a precautionary measure, the school shifted all suspended classes to online asynchronous modality which will continue until August 28.

"We have put in all necessary control and measures, including shifting all classes to online modality for today. All concerned offices acted immediately upon receiving the report, and we remain fully mobilized," it stated.

"The School remains vigilant and has enhanced security measures to ensure the safety of the school upon the return of our students," it added.

La Salle Green Hills also noted that "proper authorities, including the Philippine National Police (PNP) and local barangay officials, are on-site assisting us and will continue to support us until after our students return to school."

Due to the observance of the National Heroes Day, the school will also be closed on Monday, August 31, and resume its regular face-to-face classes on Tuesday, September 1. Robina Asido/PHS
