Malacañang on Thursday said there were no reported Filipino casualties in the mudslide disaster in Nepal, as the Philippine government continued to coordinate with Nepalese authorities and the Filipino community to determine whether any Filipinos were affected.

“Ayon sa DFA, no reported Filipino casualty as of this morning (Nepal as of the morning of August 27),” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said during a Palace press briefing.

But news reports in the evening quoted the Nepal Tourism Board-Trade as saying that a Filipino is missing.

Based on records from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the DFA, eighteen overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are in Nepal.

Government records also show that 128 Filipinos are in Nepal, most of whom are women married to Nepalese nationals. PND-PHS
