Peso pulls back after slumping to intraday low of P61.995 vs US dollar
The Philippine peso recovered to end above an all-time low against the US dollar after nearly reaching P62 against the greenback in early trading on Wednesday.
From Tuesday's P61.785, the peso sunk to P61.995 before it pulled back to close the session at P61. 815. Volume soared to $1.888 billion, with one billion dollars changing hands in afternoon trading.
The all-time low is P61.85 reached on July 24.
It is not known if the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas intervened. The central bank is known to intervene if foreign exchange transactions are volatile. PHS
