The Department of Agriculture (DA) recorded over three million pesos worth of losses due to the combined effect of tropical cyclones ''Luis'', ''Maymay'' and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Based on initial assessment, the DA regional field offices in Central Luzon and Western Visayas recorded damage and losses in rice and high value crops amounting to P3.53 million.

The department said a total of 254 farmers with 362 hectares of agricultural areas and 146 metric tons volume of production were affected because of the weather disturbances.

The agency stressed that the recorded losses are still "subject to validation". However, it also noted that "further damage and losses are expected in affected regions as assessment and validation are ongoing."

As of Friday morning, Office of Civil Defense deputy spokesperson Diego Agustin Mariano said a total of 39,879 families or 132,965 individuals from regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol, Zamboanga, and Cordillera were affected by the weather disturbances.

A total of 2,021 families or 6,215 persons were being served inside the 61 evacuation centers in the affected regions.
