The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in partnership with the Japan Coast Guard–Mobile Cooperation Team (JCG-MCT), conducted a two-week practical training program from July 20 to 31 at the Coast Guard Fleet Headquarters and aboard PCG vessels to strengthen shipboard operational capabilities.

The training equipped PCG personnel with practical skills in towing operations, damage control, shipboard firefighting, oil spill prevention, and operational analysis.

The series of training enhanced the PCG’s operational readiness by strengthening the practical competencies of its personnel in shipboard operations and emergency response, adopt best practices, and strengthen interoperability with the Japan Coast Guard.

This capacity-building initiative supports the PCG’s Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) program and reinforce the Organized National Engagement (ONE) at Sea strategic concept by advancing interoperability and international cooperation to promote a safer, more secure, and resilient maritime domain.
