Trust and performance ratings of Vice President Sara Duterte declined for the first time since November 2024 in a recent survey by OCTA Research that coincided with the formal opening of the Senate impeachment trial early this month.

"Her performance rating is below the majority level for the first time since November 2024. Trust had dipped below majority once before, in November 2024, when both ratings stood at 49 percent," it stated. It noted that it is the lowest trust and performance ratings recorded for Duterte "in the series to date."

Duterte's impeachment which began on July 7 as the OCTA Research survey spanned July 4 to 11. The impeachment trial, held three times a week, is expected to last around seven months.

The ratings of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also declined in July but it is slightly higher than Duterte.

The survey shows a marked reversal from the gains recorded by Marcos in the previous quarter.

"His trust rating declined by 5 percentage points, from 54 percent in March 2026 to 49 percent in July 2026, while satisfaction with his performance fell more sharply by 8 points, from 55 percent to 47 percent," OCTA Research stated.

"Both movements exceed the approximate 4-point threshold for comparing two national estimates with margins of error of ±3 percentage points," it added.

The OCTA Research survey showed that the trust of the Filipinos on Duterte fell by eight percentage points, from 55 percent in March to 47 percent in July, while satisfaction with her performance declined by five points, from 50 percent to 45 percent. Robina Asido/PHS
