At least 20 people died while 16 others remained missing in six provinces affected by the combined impact of the southwest monsoon and Typhoon ''Inday'', the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Monday.

OCD Deputy Spokesperson Diego Agustin Mariano said the fatalities were recorded in Tubungan, Ilo-ilo (1); Malaybalay and Quezon in Bukidnon (2); Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental (1); Malapatan, Sarangani (10); and in Calanogas in Lanao del Sur (6).

Mariano said the missing persons were recorded in Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental (8); Glan in Sarangani (2); Calanogas in Lanao del Sur (5); and Talayan in Maguindanao del Sur (1).

He also noted that the damage to infrastructure recorded reached P3.18 billion with a total of 890 houses affected, out of which 613 were partially damaged and 277 others were destroyed.

The OCD recorded a total of 146,000 families or 654,000 persons affected because of the combined effect of the southwest monsoon and Typhoon ''Inday''. Robina Asido/PHS
