Water supply in five families was interrupted for almost two days after an illegal connection of the owner of their apartment was discovered by Maynilad Water Services on Saturday.

A source said five families which consist of 22 persons living in five apartment units in Tondo were affected by the water interruption.

"I think the illegal connection was reported by a neighbor that's why it was discovered during the inspection of Maynilad," the source said.

After the illegal connection was discovered and cut by Maynilad, the water supply in the affected families resumed on Monday morning after the owner found a way to make another illegal connection.

"As far as I know it is the second time that Maynilad discovered and cut their illegal water connection. They (apartment owners) don't want to pay so they just find another way to illegally connect again to the water pipe that is located under the road drainage," the source added.

The source explained that many of the affected families were complaining about the water service interruption to the apartment owner as they are all regularly paying their monthly water consumption to the landlord. Robina Asido/PHS
