At least 100 flights to and from earthquake-hit General Santos City were cancelled as restrictions on airport operations were extended until Sunday.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) issued on Thursday an extended Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for General Santos Airport which will last until 6 pm on June 14.

It noted that "only government, military, and humanitarian flights are permitted to operate at the airport" until Sunday.

In a list released by the CAAP on Friday, a total of 133 flights were cancelled since the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the province of Sarangani on Monday.

Of the total, there were 79 flights affected from Cebu Pacific, 14 from Philippine Airlines and 40 flights from PAL Express.

These includes flights to and from General Santos City bound to and from Manila, Cebu and Iloilo.

As of Friday, the death toll due to the magnitude 7.8 earthquake increased to 55 with 1,120 others injured and 31 individuals remain missing. Robina Asido/PHS
