Deaths from collapsed Pampanga building climb to 24
The number of fatalities from the building that collapsed in Angeles City, Pampanga last May 24 reached 24, the Bureau of Fire Protection's Central Luzon regional office reported on Wednesday.
As of 10:57 am the Bureau of Fire Protection Central Luzon reported that another individual was extricated at the collapse site on Wednesday. The number of survivors of the building collapse stand at 27.
According to the Angeles City Information Office, two other bodies were recovered earlier of the same day. The first was taken out of the rubble at 7 am followed by another around 9 am.
The bodies were turned over to the City Health Office for transportation and Disaster Victim Identification procedure ng Scene of the Crime Operatives to determine their identities.
The building collapse triggered a massive emergency response from rescue units across Central Luzon. Authorities are still conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the collapsed structure. Robina Asido/PHS
