Six people died while three others were missing after a motor boat capsized off the waters of Zambales on Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Friday.

The 13 passengers, whom the Coast Guard said were members of the Aeta Indigenous Peoples Community, had gone to the community health center to receive food and medicine and join a vaccination program before returning to their homes,

Based on the initial report, the motor boat carrying 13 passengers capsized due to strong winds and rough water conditions while sailing at the vicinity of the Sunken Church, Mapanuepe Lake, Barangay Buhawen, San Marcelino, Zambales, around 2 pm.

Bilyonaryo News Channel said one of the missing was a pregnant woman.

"As of the latest report, six fatalities were recorded, including three adults and three minors, while three remain missing. Four survivors were rescued and accounted for," it added.

The Coast Guard Station Zambales Disaster Response Group (DRG), together with personnel from Coast Guard Sub-Station San Antonio, responded to the incident and coordinated with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other concerned agencies in the continuing search and rescue efforts for the missing individuals.
