The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will continue implementing taxpayer-centric reforms to simplify tax compliance, improve taxpayer services, and strengthen revenue collection in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to ease the burden on Filipinos, a Palace official said on Monday.

During a press briefing in Malacañang, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza is prepared to implement the President’s proposed tax reforms, to ease the burden on taxpayers by expanding tax exemptions and exempting small businesses from paying the minimum corporate income tax.

Castro said that Mendoza assured the public that the BIR will continue pursuing taxpayer-centric initiatives to make tax administration more efficient.

Mendoza also said the BIR will continue consulting with stakeholders to ensure that its policies remain responsive to the needs of taxpayers and effectively address concerns raised by the public.

In his State of the Nation Address last July 27, President Marcos called for tax reforms that would provide greater relief to taxpayers while supporting the growth of small businesses and promoting a more efficient tax system. | Presidential News Desk
