The Philippine Navy welcomed Commander Tsutsumi Toshio, Commanding Officer of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer JS Yuudachi during his visit on July 20 at the Navy Headquarters.

Tsutsumi met with Captain Laurence Calimag, deputy commander of the Littoral Combat Force, Philippine Fleet, to discuss opportunities for professional exchanges, cultural interaction, and the continued enhancement of defense cooperation between the two navies. The call formed part of the port visit of the JMSDF destroyer JS Yuudachi to Manila, aimed at strengthening cooperation and bilateral relations between the Philippine Navy and the JMSDF.

The discussions reaffirmed the commitment of the Philippine Navy and the JMSDF to deepen collaboration in addressing maritime security challenges, guided by shared values and mutual interests in promoting peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
