JGSDF logistics director visits Army headquarters
The logistics director of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) visited the Philippine Army and Marine Headquarters in Taguig City, a military official said Thursday.
Col. Louie Dema-ala, Philippine Army public affairs chief said during his visit, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s Logistics Management Department Director General Maj. Gen. Ikeda Koichi was welcomed by Philippine Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Efren Morados.
Dema-ala said during the courtesy call, Marados and Ikeda discussed "more on materiel capabilities and logistics cooperation" between the Philippine Army and the JSDF forces.
"Apart from becoming partners in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR), the Philippines and Japan aim to level materiel capabilities and strengthen bilateral logistics cooperation," he said.
"The Philippine Army bolsters its territorial defense operations by adopting optimal models for modernization and logistical support from coalition forces and key stakeholders to ensure a long-term, stronger defense posture," he added.
Ikeda also visited the Philippine Marine Corps, ensuring interagency coordination with the Major Services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Robina Asido/PHS
