House prosec withdraws six witnesses in impeachment trial vs Sara
The House Prosecution withdrew the presentation of six witnesses for the Article IV of the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte during the session on Wednesday.
Lead House Prosecutor Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro announced the formal withdrawal of the six witnesses for Article IV, noting that their testimonies were proven by the previous witnesses.
The six witnesses include Philippine National Police (PNP) Firearms and Explosives Office , Mikhail Flores from Reuters, Bonz Magsambol from Rappler, former Davao City Court Sheriff Abe Andes, family member of a victim of threats, and a psychiatrist.
Luistro made a manifestation that National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag as the last witness for Article IV will be presented on July 21.
She also sought for the issuance of subpoena ad testificandum and duces tecum for the witnesses for Article I including Marivic Pareja, two Landbank employees including Violeta Constantino, Branch Manager Shaw Blvd. Branch and Nenita Camposano, Branch Manager Deped Branch, and Lynette Ortiz, president and CEO of Landbank of the Philippines.
The Impeachment Court is set to decide on the issuance of "subpoena duces tecum to the BIR, AMLC and banks" when it resumes the impeachment session on Monday. Robina Asido/PHS
