Ten people, including children, died in a landslide Friday morning in Sarangani province due to rains enhanced by the southwest monsoon due to Typhoon ''Inday.''

Rodrigo Sosmeña, regional civil defense director, said the landslide in Barangay Poblacion was reported to them on Friday morning.

Five persons were reported dead while six were missing after a landslide in a part of Barangay Ngingir, Calongas, Lanao del Sur, dzBB reported.

The network quoted Myrna Angot, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of Civil Defense in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, as saying this happened at 2:30 pm Friday.

Sosmeña said based on initial report the landslide that hit the house of the victims was caused by heavy rainfall that saturated the soil.

He said one of the victim rescued on Friday morning was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

"This morning only seven were reported to us but this afternoon the death toll increased to 10," he said.
