The House prosecution team presented on Tuesday the video where Vice President Sara Duterte reportedly threatened President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and ex-Speaker Martin Romualdez that would be assassinated if something would happen to her.

The video, which was part of a two-hour zoom press briefing by Duterte on Nov 23, 2024, was played at the Senate which convened as an impeachment court hearing the impeachment complaint against Duterte. This reported threat, the fourth in the House's articles of impeachment, is slated to be deliberated in court for two to three weeks.

John Mark Calilum, a senior National Bureau of Investigation, presented the video. He is the first witness presented by the prosecution in the trial that could last for at least three months.

Duterte made a surprise appearance at the Senate around 12:30 pm, an hour ang a half before the trial began. She told reporters that ''in this bloodbath and bludgeoning, I will be bloodied but unbowed.'' She then proceeded to meet her lawyers before leaving.

Duterte's 2024 briefing ensued as her chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez, who was confined at the House of Representatives who cited her in contempt during the probe on the vice president's use of confidential funds. Lopez was to be transferred to the Women's Correctional, which Duterte vehemently opposed.

The impeachment trial continues on Wednesday. The hearings will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday. After July 27, it will be done on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. PHS
