JGSDF official visits Philippine Army headquarters
The chief of staff of the Ground Component Command (GCC) of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) visited the Philippine Army headquarters in Taguig City on Monday.
Col. Louie Dema-ala, Philippine Army spokesman, said during his visit Lt. Gen. Ueno Kazushi, the Chief of Staff of GCC of the JGSDF was welcomed by Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete.
Dema-ala said during his visit "Ueno expressed his gratitude to the Philippine Army’s continuous collaboration and support in the joint exercises between the two military organizations."
"Additionally, the two leaders briefly opened potential training approaches for GCC in the Philippines," he said.
"Lt. Gen. Ueno also paid tribute to the fallen in a wreath-laying ceremony earlier at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB)," he added.
The JGSDF also participated in the Kaagapay ng mga Mandirigma ng Dagat (KAMANDAG) 10-26 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Simulation Exercise held at the Philippine Coast Guard Fleet headquarters in Pier 13, Port Area, Manila on the same day.
The exercise also brought together personnel from the Coast Guard CBRN Force, Philippine Coast Guard Nursing Service, Coast Guard Medical Service, Philippine Marine Corps, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine National Police – Special Action Force.
