President Ferdinand Marcos Jr will proceed with his five-day working visit to Canada despite a big rally by a religious group along White Plains and People Power Monument, government media said Tuesday.

Acting Presidential Communications Secretary Dave Gomez told the Philippine News Agency Marcos will leave on Wednesday.

''There will be no changes in the schedule of President going to Canada tomorrow, '' the agency quoted Gomez as saying. The working visit will start on July 1 and ends on July 4.

The sudden rally by the Iglesia ni Cristo forced Marcos to cancel some engagements, including a press conference by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines. Mendiola was ordered closed as security preparations were put in place.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos monitored the situation inside Malacanang. PHS
