31 still missing as deaths in magnitude 7.8 quake reach 81, says OCD
Thirty-one people remain missing even as deaths due to the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that shook the province of Sarangani on June 8 has risen to 81, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Friday.
The latest data from the OCD shows that 33 fatalities were recorded in Sarangani, 27 in South Cotabato, 20 in Davao Occidental and one in Davao del Sur while 16 are still missing in Sarangani, 13 in Davao Occidental and two in South Cotabato.
The number of affected population increased to 382,269 families or 1,633,161 individuals with a total of 5,496 families or 23,568 people being served inside the 63 evacuation centers.
The OCD also recorded a total of P1.36 billion worth of damage to infrastructure while "losses in production and agricultural infrastructure and equipment" reached P39.4 million.
The Department of Agriculture said the reported damage and losses are subject to validation.
