The death toll due to the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao has risen to 78, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Thursday.

"The additional 10 are seven retrieved and three that are previously missing, both from Davao Occidental," Office of Civil Defense Deputy Spokesperson Diego Agustin Mariano said on Thursday.

Mariano said 57 fatalities were recorded in the Soccsksargen region and 21 others are from Davao Region.

The number of missing individuals also rose to 30 while 1,339 were injured.

The damage to infrastructure increased to P1.29 billion while agricultural losses reached P29.8 million.

The affected families are recorded at 357 or 1.5 million people out of which 5,000 families or 21,000 individuals were being served inside 46 evacuation centers. Robina Asido/PHS
